Yesterday I finished uploading the yearbook cover. So today all I had to complete was the blog from what I did the previous day and the phone cover assignment. The phone cover was a little more difficult assignment to complete compared to the other ones we had these two weeks. It took me longer to get an idea of what I wanted the phone cover to look like. Originally Angie and I were going to take picture of objects around the school that we would be able to use for our cover. But as we walked around we couldn't find any objects that we wanted to put on our covers. So we came back to class and back to brainstorming. Although I did not start on the cover it self, I came up with an idea. I want the cover to have an gradient effect, white at the top and it goes down, I'd like it dark grey. Then some grey water color flowers on the white part and and it goes down the flowers will get white.

Yesterday I completed the yearbook cover assignment. It took me a while to start on the assignment because it took a very long time to download the cover template. Once I downloaded the temple I used the picture from the movie poster assignment. I inserted that image on the front cover of the yearbook template. I thought that the cover would look better if I added another face to the cover, originally it only had 2 faces on it. The face that I added replicated that effects that were on the other two original faces. I added the black and white comic book effect filter on it. The next thing I did was fill the background of the spine of the book black. I then added "Richland Collegiate High School" in green text to match the rest of the text used in the original image. On the back cover of the yearbook I added the duck that you created and centered it in the middle of the back cover. Underneath the duck, I added 2013with the same green text and an outer glow effect. Now that I think about it, I should have incorporated the 2013 in the front cover instead of the back. I also would have like it better if I would have other people's pictures on the front cover. It probably would have had more of a "yearbook" feel to it.

I finished my movie poster assignment today. Like I mentioned on the post before, my group and I decided to have Fight Club as our movie poster idea. I was going to pick a movie poster with a pink filter and a comic book effect. I tried yesterday to achieve this look as well as today but it was too hard for me to complete it. So I decided to pick another poster. The poster I ended up using as the my "model" poster was one that had a black and white comic book effect on the faces and then a pink rectangle that mocked the pink soap bar. On the pink rectangle, "Fight Club" was written in pink text with a action feel to the font. I put a filter that made the pictures look similar to the comic book effect. Then I positioned the two pictures to mock the position of the original poster. I then added a purple rectangle with the corners rounded and then I added "RCHS Club" in green text. I found a font on dafont.com that was the exact same text as the original fight club. On the bottom of the faces I added "Don't talk about RCHS Club." in the same text.

We had to work on our "yearbook" movie posters today. Last class we started to brainstorm different movies that we could possibly turn into a year book cover. My group chose Fight Club as our group poster. The original poster for Fight Club has interesting characteristics to them. The one I am doing for mine has a crumpled dark brown paper bag texture in the background, the actor's faces are pink with the shadows dark brown, and the text is in a cream and pink color. Most of the posters have a similar design as far as the shadows on the faces, except the colors are different. The group as a whole really enjoyed the design because it has a grunge type of feel to it. I had some difficulty changing our image to have a pink filter on the face like the original poster. Also getting the face to have a comic book look. The original doesn't have much facial features shown. So I'm trying to work on that.

Today was similar to yesterday's assignment. We had to take an asymmetrical picture of one of the members in our group. I used one of the pictures we took from the other day. I did a spiral effect on my image using text following the spiral path. I found this assignment to be more rigorous than yesterday's. The difficult part of it was the pen tool. I didn't quite grasp the technique on using it. It took me longer than I had expected to finish the assignment. After I got the path I wanted the text to be on, it was easier.

Ms.Dunning,
Our assignment for the day was to take a symmetrical pictures, asymmetrical, and a profile image. Our group got some really awesome shots.
When we came back into the class room we started working on the image, which was the profile picture. My image was a nice image, the lighting was perfect on my model. Even though my model looked great in the picture, the background was a little hard to work with. I decided to do a white text because, for the most part, the background was that of a darker background. There were some white walls in the background so I decided to use the burn tool on these white walls. I did this so the white text could standout and be able to be seen. The only frustration I had while working with this assignment was the path text. Making the circles was easy, but once I started typing the text would go below the image instead of the above the image. Other than that, the assignment wasn't too bad.

Ms. Dunning,
Today we learned about color and how it conveys messages. What stood out to me the most during the color lecture was that choosing color in an image is very important because colors convey different emotions. So while choosing colors, make sure to choose colors that your audience will respond to the way you want them to.
For the Color Pop assignment I chose the 3 primary colors, I thought the colors would really be eye catching. I also used 3 pictures, which I added a red outer glow effect on all 3 of them. The background color was yellow with blue and red paint splatters. In the middle I added a blue oval title with "Student Life" in yellow text. I added a subtle yellow outer glow around the blue oval. I did this to tie in all the images together.
